I go to Florida A&M University. I love it so far, my teachers are tough, but the feedback is awesome! They really mold you, and you get a chance to figure out your design aesthetic, which can be tough at first.
Tips to Remember:
-Just because your a girl doesnt make you any less of a CREATIVE GENIUS. There are going to be alot of males, naturally so get used to it.
-Procrastination is your BIGGEST enemy, the quicker you conquer the better.
-No matter what they say, you can still have a social life, and have one.
-Have a hobby besides architecture, it will give you some insight into something else. mine is photography and mixed media art, which comes in handy for projects.
-Get an Internship early, although it wont count till after your third year, you will need as much experience as you can get, believe me, school and the real world are two different things.
-Party, that is what college is for, just dont get carried away.
-Talk to your professors ALWAYS.
-Watch Revit Tutorials
-Be proficient in photoshop (you will need it for projects)
-Meet Deadlines ALWAYS
-Have fun and always research on new technology and artists and architects.
I am going into my third year this fall, I am very excited. it is going to be tough, you will spend many nights in the architecture builing, but make it fun, make friends and talk to your classmates, they (sometimes)can be the most help.
i really love architecture but i have to admit, i have been really intimidated by what most people say, and this really helped. really, thanks so much!
i wish you luck too! it’s always very cool to meet someone who is even more into architecture than me. i’m coming to follow your blog right now! :)
